Beta Fish with discolored waste

Question
My son has a female Beta Fish.  We have had her for about a month.  For the past week she has has a string of white waste hanging underneath her.  This morning the top part of the waste closest to her body is reddish (bloody?) colored.  She is acting normally other wise, swimming to the front of the tank when we talk to her etc.  I am concerned about internal bleeding or something.  Any advice?

Answer
Hi Shelley,
Sometimes occasional poo discoloration like even stringy waste is fine. As long as it is temporary and normal waste returns.

Sometimes a short bout of stringy/whitish poo can be simply due to stress and it should go away without a problem. Since you are seeing some reddish (I don't think its internal bleeding) poo that is probably normal waste coming back through. As long as the little fish seems fine and acting normal I wouldn't worry.

This is a really awesome betta website you might want to check out just for more info on bettas in general-

I hope this helps and have a good weekend!
