White speck in eye of fish

Question
We have a black more(?) fish, maybe it is a telescope eye goldfish, not sure.  It is black.  Every couple of weeks it develps a white speck inside of its eye.  From every angle it appears to be inside of its eye.  We have witnessed this thing pop out and fall to the bottom of the tank.  Other times it seems to disappear.  Other than this nothing else is wrong with the fish.  Would you happen to know what this is?  Many thanks in advance.

FOLLOW UP:  Hi Amy
My original message is at the bottom of this page.  I always include any follow ups at the top in case it hasn't been read yet, and it may look like you've received a duplicate email and not read this one.  Just wanted to explain that if this looks out of order to you.

I found a little bit of info, hard to say for sure though if this is what you have.  The only thing similar I can find is the "white speck" part.  Doesn't mention anything about it falling out.  It's called eye flukes:

This one has some photos:

This article makes a brief mention of it as well:

Also, I recall reading before that it's possible for them to get ich in their eye.  This seems to make more sense to me the more I'm thinking about it then the eye fluke, because flukes will stay on the fish host for their life time.  Ich only stays on the fish for a short period of time, then drops off.....it just seems so strange that it keeps recurring though.  Either way, if you look for a medicine that treats both, like Coppersafe treats ich and flukes, there's a few others out there as well.  I would still check with another expert though if you can.  Let me know if you do find out for sure what it is, and if the treatment works if you don't mind.
Good luck!

Hi Amy
I'm sorry, but I have no idea what that eye thing is, I've never heard of anything like that.  Only thing I can really think of that would keep coming back and "visibly" fall out to the bottom, would be some kind of parasite.

What shape is the speck when it's in the eye?
What's it look like when it falls out-long, short, thing, round?
How big is it after it falls out, like a grain of salt?
Does it leave any blood, red spot, open area, anything after it falls out?
I don't if this is possible, but if it happens again, try to "catch it" or scoop it out if you can.  Or if you know when it's going to fall out, maybe move the fish to a bowl or container that has nothing on the bottom.  Put it in a ziplock bag and I know it sounds strange or even extreme, but call up an exotic vet and see if they can put it under a microscope(assuming it's that small) or diagnose what the heck it is.  If you can't find a vet to do that, try calling around to possibly a zoo or public aquarium in your area and see if they have an ichthyologist(fish scientist) that would be willing to look at it.  I'll keep an eye out online, and if I see anything even remote like that, I'll respond back to you.  But let me know on those questions if you don't mind, maybe that will help when I look.

Also, here's a link with different of goldfish.  When I clicked on the telescope, they said the black moor was the same thing as a telescope.....I'm not familiar with the fancier varieties, so I don't know for sure on that.

Again, sorry I can't help you with the eye thing.  Also try posting to some other experts on here, maybe someone else has heard of that or dealt with it before.
