goldfish for a 20 gallon tank

Question
We have 4 bubble eyed goldfish, who are soon moving into a 20 gallon soon. I really don't think any of these are going to grow much. Right now they are about 3 inches each at the most. Will they all be able to live in a 20 gallon?

Answer
Hi Sabrina,
The 4 bubble-eye goldfish should be fine in the 20-gallon. It seems each individual goldfish grows at his/her own pace and it all depends upon the level of care they receive. Some varieties of goldfish are just slow growers also.

Later they might need a bigger tank -- like a 30-40 gallon. But it all depends on their growth rate.

Best wishes and Happy holidays!
