QuestionIS it necessary to put rock salt in a freshwater aquarium which is already conditioned?
AnswerDear Samantha,
The simple answer is no.
Salt is not neccesary for it's longterm use in the freshwater aquarium, despite what many books/resources may claim. Salt is not entirely bad, it has it's good uses as a side-treatment to actual medication when fish illness strikes. But otherwise, as long as the water has been treated for Chlorine, chloramine and ammonia that is all you need for a healthy aquarium with healthy happy fish.
I hope this helps! Best wishes!!
