male guppy

Just a quick question.  I have a male fancy guppy, along with 2 female guppies.  I also have a pair of mickey mouse platys.  The female platy just had fry a few days ago.  My male guppy is chasing the female platy around like crazy.  Needless to say, the female platy will be getting exhausted running from the male guppy and male platy.  Is this normal for the guppy to be interested in the platy?  It actually looks like he is trying to mate with her.

Hi Linda,
It sounds like your male guppy is just being territorial towards your other fish. This is usually nothing to worry about as they do not cause that much harm to the fish. Although, if the other fish is showing signs of distress you must separate her into another tank.
