Question
QUESTION: hi,nice to ask a question to ya.I have recently gotten 3 penguin tetras,2 neon tetras ,and 2 emperor tetras.I was wondering if you could tell me a good way of breeding them.they all live together peacefully in one fishbowl.I also have another bowl for them to breed in,but i need to know what to do to breed all these fish.and I need to know what the eggs of these fish would look like.thank you very much.
ANSWER: Hi John,
If you are going to try and breed tetras, you will need a bigger tank, not a bowl.
You will need lots of leafy plants because the female lays the eggs and they stick to the leaves.
Also, large gravel or even marbles for the bottom so if the eggs should go to the bottom, other fish can't get at them to eat them.
You can actually see the eggs stuck to the plants.
Hope this helps!

QUESTION: thank you very much for your help.recently thought,i was changing my fish bowl with 2 neon tetras,3 penguin tetras, and the 2 emperor tetras.sad 2 say that 2 penguin tetras have died while i was changing their water.i fear that my fish may not survive long in the bowl. Also, its getting to be a big hassel cleaning their bowl every almost 3 days.I really need to know what i can do with what i have being 2 fish bowls and gravel to allow them to survive.and please tell me what i can do to aviod them dying off so quickly. Also, what colour would the tetra eggs be and how long would they take to hacth?Im sure you have a lot of other people to help, but i dont want to flush more fish due to my lack of knowlage.thank you.

Answer
The eggs would be white and they take 3o days to hatch.

The only thing is, it is not going to happen in a fish bowl. There are too many fish to survive in a bowl. They need a minimum of a 10 gallon tank.

Fish cannot live in a bowl with no air or filter
