Question
I have a platy and it's yellow with black speckles.I don't know wether it's just fat or pregnant.

Also,I have a bamboo. It's been in my tank for a couple of weeks but it seems to be surviving on who knows what.Do you know what it eats.

Also a snail. What does it eat that I could feed mine?

Rebecca

Answer
Hi Rebecca,
If your platy has been exposed to a male it is possible that it could be pregnant. Sometimes, fish can look pregnant and have what is called dropsy. I will include a website to help you decide if that is what it is.
As for the bamboo, I wasn't clear if you meant bamboo as in a plant or if you meant bamboo shrimp.  If you meant the plant it is probably using the fish waste and other nutrients in the water to survive. If you meant the bamboo shrimp, they are filter feeders and are surviving on micro food in the water and shouln't need any additional food.
The snail is probably eating any leftover food or any algae. You can also feed them algae wafers, romaine lettuce, or even a slice of zuchinni.
Here is the website with infomation on dropsy. Your fish may only be pregnant but I thought you would want to read about it just in case.

Hope this helps,
