Question
High can you help I have discovered what looks like fine hair in my tank, but they seem to move about will this cause any harm to my fish and what can i do about it

Answer
Hi Paul
Do they look like thin, white, squiggly worms that look like an S when they swim?  Sometimes you'll see them on the top of the water line on the glass as well.  If so, those are nematodes, and they're harmless.  Usually you'll notice them after doing a water change, and you stir up the gravel.  They're usually brought out by overfeeding.

Be sure to do frequent water changes, I usually recommend about 25% once a week, and be sure you vacuum the gravel very good.  This will help remove them.  Cut back on the amount your feeding.  Feed only once a day, and it's ok to skip a day or two in there as well.  Feed only what the fish will eat within 5 minutes, then be sure to scoop out the rest.  It'll take some time, but they'll eventually die off and be removed following those tips.  No need for medications or anything.

Hope that helps, and good luck!!
