Broken leg on Angel

Question
Hi!

I have had my angels (2males & 2 females) now for over a month. When i first purchased them they were fine but one of the females was very scared/aggressive when she was being put into the container at the fish shop. Anyway, after my purchase and on my way home, she was being VERY agressive and moving around a whole lot. Up until i got home she had calmed down.

When i put the angels in the aquarium, i noticed that this female had one of her legs 1/2 broken. She must have hurt herself whilst panicking during the transit from the petshop to my house. Yesterday i noticed that her 'broken' leg fell off but she is looking much happier now and more willing to eat (unlike before as i was worried)

All the Angels now come up to feed when they notice me and this was not the case with my injured angel until her leg fell off.

What i want to ask is, will her leg grow back? Do i need to give her any special treatment or care? Last week was water change time and a couple of days ago i added some aquarium salt to help a little.
I try to feed them as well as possible. Varied diet including freeze dried bloodworm, powdered and normal flakes, fly larvae, frozen bloodworm, some freeze dried daphnia here and there. they are fed approx 3-4 times a day in small doses.

I also noticed that the males bite and push on each others mouths sometimes.. this usually lasts for 5-10mins and then tey stop. to be honest i haven't seen them fight anymore lately.. is this normal?

i appreciate any help,
thanks
Keith

and by the way, fantastic site..!

Answer
Hello Keith:  I found your question in the general question pool...well actually I just found the general question pool and there are some pretty old questions in there... I am sorry nobody has answered your question sooner...but I thought I'd give it a try... From what I have read about angelfish and fin rejuvenation it would seem that your fish with the broken leg will rejuvenate...because the break was so severe I would suspect that it will take her some time to come back to new... I would keep your eye on her and the rest of your lot too.  Feeding extra protein is good... and I approve of the extra freeze dried daphnia you could even try some live brine shrimp.   As for your males they are probably trying to work out a tank "pecking order" and unless they are hurting each other then I would just let them be... sometimes we have to allow fish to just be fish and not interfere. If you feel as though you have one bully in there then you may have to consider returning him to the aquarium where you bought him.  If the aggression continues then try to feed them only twice a day the amount that they will eat in 3 minutes... I feed mine morning and night and like the bad parent I am... I give them snacks throughout the day... The females will also fight and if they are trying to pick out mates that is pretty normal.... if  you have any further questions or need clarification please let me know... dave
