Fin clamping on Fighting fish

Question
Hey,

I have a small 20Ltr community tank and recently my poor little male Siamese Fighting Fish (Dave) has became ill. One day he was fine and the next his tail fins look like they're all stuck together with glue and he finds difficulty swimming. Now, I know this can often be caused by poor water quality and the fish being too cold but all the Ammonia and Nitrate levels are low and the water temperature is currently 28C. I was told it could be "Costia or "cilondonella" and that I should by "Waterlife Protozin". But sadly my local shop doesnt stock it but advised me to get "Interpet: Methylene Blue" which can act as a treatment for "protozoan parasites". So firstly, have I done the right thing? And will it clear up? And secondly, how long will it take before the tank returns to its not so Dark Blue colour? :)

Thanks,

Greg

Answer
Hi There,

When you say your ammonia levels are low, they should be reading zero.
I recommend daily water changes of about 30% to help improve water quality. You will see a difference in your fish almost immediately.
I would remove the medication by doing daily water changes as i dont think your fish is sick. It sounds like your fish is just unhappy with water quality.

Hope this helps,
Chloe :)
