Question
I have had my Betta fish for over 6 months. For the past few days he
hasnt been eating. Also, he will not move and he just lays at the bottom
of the tank. Occasionaly he will be on the side of the tank floating
vertically.
What is wrong with him and how do i fix it?
Thank you!

Answer
To be honest, I am not sure, it could be a number of issues. Does he have any spots, bumps, tears, or discoloration on his fins or body? If so, he has a disease. If not, he could simply be one his way out. Unless there is something you have done to the tank lately to stress him, there is no telling what could be happening, unless he has a disease. Sometimes we can try our best to give animals the correct environment but sometimes it just doesn't work. Also, keep in mind, depending on how old he was when you got him he could be near his time to go. Most captive animals have lessoned lives due to the fact that they are in captivity and not in the wild. Let me know if he has any spots or discolorations and I will try to help you figure out what to treat him with, other than that I honestly can not gather a reason for his behavior other than he is too old. If you have any more questions or concerns feel free to ask me I will be here to help you the best I can.
