Distilled Water for Aquarium

25 9:09:16

Question
I am starting an aquarium (6 gallons). I only plan on 2-3 fish. I filled the tank last week with 5.5 gallons of distilled water and am now waiting 3-4 weeks for the tank to cycle. I did add some Stress-Zyme to facilitate the cycling. Question is this: is distilled water chlorine free and can I use it for periodic partial water changes?

Answer
Hello,

Unforunately, I use tap water and am unsure if your particular type of distilled water is chlorine free. The best thing you can do is ask the store where you purchase your distilled water if it is. Also, the packaging of the water might say either way. Alternatively, you could ask at a local pet store because they probably have distilled water available for aquariums.

I'm sorry I was unable to be of more assistance to you, but I hope this has helped a bit.

Good-luck,
From Stephanie
