Mollys gill plates are gone

I got this silver male molly acouple months ago & he was perfectly healthy & looked good. Well over the past 2 weeks his gillvplates have been dissolving & his gills are exposed. What caused this & how can I fix it?

 Molly's are very sensitive to bad water. As for the gill plates just being gone I don't know. Was he showing any signs of illness before you notice the current problem? Maybe they were bright red first? What other fish do you have in the tank with him? As long as it doesn't seem to be bothering him I don't think there is really anything you can do. Just make sure he is in brackish water since that is the water they do best in and make sure he is not being bullied. Sometimes they will grow back but the norm is they most likely won't. Keep the water very clean and make sure you are doing your 25% water changes every week. If he gets worse let me know.
