Question
I got a question about the whole cycle thing.
My cousin told that i should have bacteria in my aquarium that would turn the ammonia in my tank into nitrite then turn nitrite into nitrate then change the water by 50% to complete the cycling process. But i got a question about how to create a needed amount of ammonia in my tank for the cycling process to take place. Isn't there anything that i can add to the aquarium to create that needed amount of ammonia????????????????????????????????

Answer
Hi James...
I used raw shrimp from a regular fish market.
I put about 6 of them in a filter bag and hung them in my tank near the water flow and in about 5 days I had an ammonia reading. I left them there till the cycle completed.
You can also use PURE ammonia if you can find it.
If it contains any surfactants you cannot use it.
The other way to get your tank going is if you can find Bio Spira in the pet store. Bio Spira is the bacteria that is created by ammonia. You can add fish and Bio Spira together
