Question
hi, I have a blue betta who's began to lose his color. I just got him 2 weeks ago and this problem has been going for maybe 10 days now. his fins under his belly started to turn white. so I called petco & they suggested to take out the plants and rocks I had just put in. he got a lil more color but not all the way. his fins under his belly are still very white at the tips...his belly has lost color too.. its not white.. just colorless. hes in a bowl that's probalby half gallon size. no filter. and use pring or drinking water for his bowl, also no thermometer or heater. I feed him flakes because he won't eat pellets and I give him blood worms about 3 times a week. and since I've gotten him I do 50% water change every 3 - 4 days and done a full change once. also if I shine a light on him all his other fins seem to be blue but a little bit translucent and I can see some tiny darker blue dots all over his fins... is that parasites attched to him or is that normal?

Answer
Hi Patty,
Bettas can undergo amazing color changes as they get older. I don't really think it is an illness or parasite and it sounds like you are doing a good job taking care of him!

Just keep an eye on him and if you are worried, you can send pictures through your next message. ;-)

Best wishes,
Karen~
