keeping plastic plants clean

Question
how do i?  i have a 55gal tank with about ten cichlids varying in type... i have several plastic plants (varying in color and length from 4" to 12") that accumulate that brownish green "coating" over time... i don't mind doing the tank maintenance but i was curious if there is another animal/fish/creature (crabs, perhaps another plecko) that would assist with this??  currently have one plecko (i believe a rhino if that matters) and an undergravel filter system with a pump on either end of the tank that circulate more than sufficiently... any ideas?? or am i just trying to be too lazy?

Answer
The brownish green coating is a form of algae. What worries me is the fact it is brown and not green. Do a water quality test and see if everything okay (Algae may be annoying but it has one perk, if it's green your tank is good, if it's brown something's wrong).
Plecos are fickle little guys and I find utterly useless in eating algae (they will eat ANYTHING that fits in their mouth). This type of algae I find doesn't get eaten. You can either leave it or clean it yourself.
