Hi, I was wondering if I still need to cycle a tank for a week if I have used the tank and filter before, but it is all new water?

Hi Rachel,

No, you don't have to cycle it if you are using the old filter cartridge. Just add 2-3 fish at a time, and your tank will be fine. However, if you let the tank sit with the filter running and no fish, the beneficial cycling bacteria will die because there's no fish waste (ammonia), as their food. Get fish NOW, to keep the cycle going.

Make sure you treated the water if it is tap water, to remove chlorine or chloramine.
