Question
we recently got a 55 gallon freshwater tank and bought 2 gold fish and 2 kissing fish. i can't remember what kind of kissing fish but their pink and 1 of them isn't eating. it also isn't swimming around very much and it seems like the other fish are picking on it. we've had them for 4 days and all of the other fish are doing great. we keep the water temperature between 76-78 degrees and haven't put any chemicals in since we got the fish. before that we put aquasafe with bioextract water conditioner in it and waited about 2 weeks before we bought fish. do you think this has something to do with the tank or is my fish sick?

Answer
Kissing Gouramis are "touchy" moody fish.  I had a pair that hid for weeks before they would come out from behind the filter.  Once it gets use to the tank it will move around more and eat.  Try to bribe it with brine shrimp.  If you feel like the fish is sick let me know.  I think that it is still adjusting to its new tank.  If the other fish keep picking on it... you will need to separate it from them.  dave
