fungus in freshwater tank

Question
my 20 gal freshwater tank has developed a fungus?, that has attached itself to the sides of the tank and the plants.  It is white/translucent and looks somewhat gooey. I am seeing no signs of it affecting the fish community as of yet.  What is it and how do I treat it?  Thanks!

Answer
Michael,
Does it look like spider webs in your tank? It sounds like mold type fungus that usually appears when the fish are being over fed and the tank is not getting cleaned regularly. Make sure you clean the glass of the tank along with any decorations that are effected. Make sure the aquarium light is on no more than 8 hours a day. When the light is left on longer, it will promote algae.
