QuestionHi, I have had a Crown Tail Betta for almost 1 year. He has been doing fine. About 1 week ago he started losing his appetite. He now eats 1 or 2 pellets at the most sometimes none and the pellets are polluting the tank.
So I have to change the water more often. He normally loves to eat those Betta Gold Pellets and has a healthy appetite. What could be wrong??
AnswerHello Patricia: Betta fish have a life span of about 3 years. He could be nearing the end of his life or he could just be tired of his food. Water Temperature affects betta fish as well... a nice warm tank temperature between 78-82 degrees is perfect for betta. I would try some live brine shrimp and a frozen (thawed) pea. Betta fish are known to have digestive problems. The brine shrimp will help if he is just bored and ... they are known to have a laxative effect (as do peas) if he is having intestinal problems.... Make sure you are cleaning his gravel. Hope this helps... dave
