Question
The sample bottle of dechlorinator is gone so I bought Top Fin dechlorinator.  I just changed the gallon fish bowl by using 4 cups X 4, added the dechlorinator and then put the beta back into the clean water .  Then I freaked when I re-read the instructions.  Unlike the sample bottle this dechlorinator calls for 2 drops per gallon and I added 2 drops per 4 cups or 6 drops for that gallon.  Will my beta die now and should I start over immediately to save it?

Answer
Hi Gerri;

Don't worry, it isn't going to kill your fish. I have used very large doses of water conditioners with no ill effects on my fish. Sometimes accidentally, sometimes on purpose for water with higher chlorine levels. You could change it again if it bothers you but the very small extra dose in yours really isn't harmful.

Just always be sure that his new water is the same temperature as his old water to avoid temperature shock. Change his water once or twice a week and he should stay pretty healthy.
