Blue gouramis

I have two blue gouramis in a tank w/ a spotted catfish and a pocustomis.  Last night the smaller blue gourami was fine and this morning its fins have been nipped off.  Which fish would have done this and is there anything i can do to help them grow back.    thank-you tim

Hi Tim,
Could either be the spotted catfish (surprisingly enough some catfish will nip fins) or it could be the other gourami. Most gouramis are quite territorial and if they are two males you could be in for it with conflicts.

The best thing you can do for your wounded gourami is keep his water clean with enough water changes to keep the nitrates as low as possible and keep the gravel well-vacuumed to prevent infections.

The fins will grow back with time, provided they don't get nipped again and again. Try to keep a watch on them.
