Snail Infestation

Question
Hi there, i am in need of a little advice. I seem to have a snail infestation in my aquarium and have been following various posts on the net about similar problems. I have a very small aquarium, approx 30L containing guppies, and want to avoid chemical intervention, currently i am picking them out 3 times a day! I believe they are a ramshorn type of snail. Obviously i am unable to introduce any type of loach or other fish due to the small capacity of my tank. Any ideas or advice would be greatly appreciated, Thanks.

Answer
Hello Silke:  Put a piece of lettuce... a larger leaf works best... in the aquarium when you go to bed and in the morning it will be covered with snails.  Just remove it and discard it.... Repeat the process until they are under control. Also make sure that your gravel is clean... snails need food too... so if there is not enough food for them their numbers will drop and they will stop laying eggs..... dave
