well i have these littl whit bugs and they dont stick to the glass the just swim around,from far away u cant even notice them but when u get really close u can see them.they look like little dots and there white what are they and how can i get rid of them

Hi Ashley;

The bugs are just a harmless little water critter. They often exist in our tanks in very small numbers, it's natural. It's just that we rarely see them until they start to overpopulate. That's when we notice them. They start to grow in numbers when there is too much waste in the tank. That's what the critters feed on. Chemicals and medications have no effect on them and could harm your fish so it's best to just starve them out. Cut back on food and clean waste out. All tanks need a weekly 25% water change and gravel vacuuming so start getting rid of them by doing that. Just slowly get it cleaned up and cut back on food too. Make sure you aren't overcrowding too. Too many fish adds too much waste.  

You don't necessarily want to clean out the whole tank to get rid of all of it in one shot. Cleaning so much like that will shock your fish and also kill all the beneficial bacteria in the tank. The tank will go through a break-in period which is very dangerous to the fish.
