dirty tanks

I have 4 Golden danios and there tank (2.5 gal) is getting really dirty. I was wondering if adding an algae eater would be ok and if so what kind would you recommend?

Hey Abby,

Get a bigger tank. 4 Gold danios require about 7 gallons of space to live healthily and happily. Because danios are highly active, and semi territorial, keeping them in a small space is hard on them. With a larger tank, you also wont have to worry about excess food and waste making the tank dirty.

Other then that, there isnt much you can do aside from rapid water changes. Adding a tank cleaning animal will result in severe increases in ammonia production and could prove fatal for all of your fish...
