Answer
Hi Kelsang,
What a great b.day gift! Exciting!

Answer to question number 1.
Goldfish do enjoy most all types of worms and earthworms are especially appreciated by many fish. You'll need to get some of the smaller earthworms or otherwise chop the larger ones (some people can't stand this...) But perhaps the most important thing is know the sources of your worms, make sure that there is not a chance of the worm coming from areas where pesticides are used. You can get live bait worms and these ones are safe. Try to rinse the worms in running water before feeding them to your goldies and make sure to include a balance of vegetable-based and meaty types food for a good diet.

Question 2 answer.
Oh that's a hard one! I love them all! I guess it sorta depends on what color you like most. Cause you know black moors are black of course, red-caps are white mostly... Pearlscales can be almost any color and so can veiltails and fantails. I do love any calico-colored goldfish and a healthy, velvety-black Black Moor is quite striking too! But then a brilliant orange and white Ryukin is very impressive. I say go with the one that catches your eye the most! ;-)

Question 3 answer.
I do use Marineland Biowheel filters. They are decent, but to be honest it seems like the larger models have a harder time operating, they aren't as powerful as most filters. But the smaller models work great in tank sizes of 20-29 gallons. They do a good job at cleaning the water of particles and oxygenating it. And in general it'd be a good choice for your setup.

Just a side note the most powerful and perhaps most reliable filter I've had is "Cascade" brand. But one thing to note is you don't want too much powerful current going on in your tank with fancy goldies and their weak swimming abilities.

I really hope this helps and Happy New Years to you also!!!
Karen~
