Cichlid babies

Question
We have 2 jeweled cichlids that recently just hatched some eggs.  We were worried about the other fish in the tank eating the fry so we moved some of the fry to a smaller 10 gallon tank that we had.  Is it okay to have the fry separated from the parent cichlid?  What/how should we feed the fry?  There are still a few fry left in the larger tank with the parents so we didn't want to take the parents out if it wasn't necessary.

Thank you for your help.

Answer
Hi Diona, Congrats!! ;-)
Try to get fry foods ready ASAP.

They can usually eat finely powdered flake food, liquid baby fish food (from your petstore), baby brine shrimp (perhaps they would eat frozen baby brine shrimp but you can easily hatch them yourself with a few supplies from your petstore)

The fry will probably be fine without their parents. It was a good thing to move them into a separate tank because likely the other fish would have eaten them.

I hope this helps!
Best of luck with the new hatch!
Karen~
