Betta Fish Tank Spots

Question
In my Betta fish's bowl, orange-ish yellow spots have accumulated on the walls of the tank.  My Betta, Jace, hasn't shown any strange behavior or reaction to these spots.  In case it was something dangerous, I washed the tank including everything inside and put in spring water which I get from actual springs as I usually do, ridding these spots.  My question is as to what these spots are and if they are dangerous.

Answer
Alisa,

Do you get your water from the spring too or just use it for your fish? This could be bacteria or algae from the water. Spring water is very different than regular tap water. It usually lacks some of the things that the fish need from tap water. If you can, I would start using regular tap water with a good conditioner. I think once you have changed him over you might not see this any more. I would remove him from the bowl and put him in a 5 gallon tank. There is no fish that can live happy and healthy in a bowl. He also needs to have a heater because he is a tropical fish. Set the heater at 82 degrees. I do not think it is harmful but it is good to not have it in the tank. Make sure, since he is in a bowl, that you are doing 25% water changes every 3 days. His light should be on for 8 to 9 hours a day. If it is on longer it will promote algae. If you have any more questions don't hesitate to ask.
