foggy water

I just set up my tank on Saturday night.  The water turned foggy on Sunday.  Is there anything I can do to clear it up?

This is a very common problem with newly setup tanks. It is either due to gravel dust which will clear with time or a bacterial bloom, especially if there are fish in the tank. But I've seen bacterial blooms in tanks without fish too!

The situation will correct itself as the beneficial bacteria establishes to keep the tank balanced (perhaps a couple of weeks to clear) but there are some things you can do to help it along. Such as doing daily 50% water changes will definitely help it clear. But it may take it a bit and patience is key.
