my rosy barb is going around & around vary weak one already died.I have 8 barb & 6 coy & 1black shark &3 cory cat fish in a 20gal halp halp

Answer
Hi David,
Do a 50% water change. Most problems like this are related to water quality issues. Make sure when you do a water change to condition the new water with water conditioner and insure the temp is equal to or just a little warmer than the tank's.

If these fish are recent additions, they may have been weak fish to begin with from the stresses in the petstore as well as handling, being added to a new environment, aggression from other fish, ect...

It would also help to test your water for ammonia, nitrites and nitrates. This will help you know exactly what may be going on with your aquarium. The behavior you described sounds like fish suffering from poor water quality, like ammonia or nitrite being present in the water. In healthy aquariums, these dangerous chemicals are not present.

Your water's readings should be as follows- ammonia-0 nitrite-0 nitrate- under 15 ppm

Local petstores usually will test your water for free when you bring in a sample. Its important to ask for the exact readings when you do.

Before we can move on any further its very important to know these readings first and foremost.

I hope you do not lose anymore fish!
Hope this helps and good luck!
Susan~
