Feeding Bata Fish

Question
Hi Chris,

I have a new male bata fish for my son and I have a question about how much and when to feed him. He's in a one and a half gallon tank and he's about two inches long.
The guy who sold him to us said to feed him one or two pellets every two or three days. The directions on the food say to feed him one to two pellets twice a day. What do you say?

Thanks,
Joey

Answer
Hi Joey;

One or two every three days isn't much. I feed mine 4 every day and fast him one day a week. I also feed bloodworms a couple of times a week and a live tubifex worm or two here and there. It's important to vary their diet. When fed the same thing for a long time they will often develop digestive trouble.

Here is a good site about bettas that includes feeding guidelines too;
