What Can I feed my Beta for a treat?

Question
Hi Chris,
I just bought a new beta, unfortunately my last one lasted me 6 months, I can admit I over fed "splash".  I would like to give my new beta "bop" some treats besides his food, seems very boring to me to feed him the same stuff everyday, could you give me some ideas?  "bop" is in a beta aquarium, how often should I change his water?  I got really attached to "splash" and I do not want to lose "Bop" as fast.
Thanks for any help you can give me
Christine

Answer
Hi Christine;

They do like freeze dried tubifex worms. They also like frozen brine shrimp. It is fine to give these twice a week instead of the regular food. Feed him once a day, no matter which food you are feeding.

Change his water once a week and keep him in a warm place. Bettas need their water to be 78 or higher all the time in order to stay healthy. Putting a light on him is very helpful in raising the temperature.

Merry Christmas!
