betta has sudden curbed apetite

Question
I've had my fish since last July, and he has always been extremely active and eager to eat, compared to any other betta fish that I have ever seen. He's in a one gallon bowl.

Normally, he would be excited enough to eat 4-5 pellets a day. As of recent, he seems uninterested, and just looks at the pellets but swims away. He eats just one pellet every few days, and sometimes even spits it right back out. I've tried other food, and he never wants anything else, including bloodworms.

He's getting thin compared to my other two bettas, which are in separate bowls, of course. But, his color is normal, and he still never stops moving, like normal, so I don't really think that he is sick. We change the water every week, and while the water is not 80 degrees, he has not minded it for almost 6 months already.

What can I do?

Answer
Hi Daniel;

You might try some frozen foods (thawed first). See if your local fish store has Brine Shrimp, Daphnia, or blood worms. These foods are aromatic and will often encourage a betta to begin eating again.

Keep his water as warm as possible. Every betta is different, just like people, and he may just be extra sensitive. Change his water frequently too. Fresh water is an appetite increaser.

Hope he feels better soon......
