another question about my dying beta

Question
Hi Chris.
It's Tracy (the girl with a million questions about the red swollen possibly cancerous beta).  Thank you for the link to the website with the most humane way to let Fishy sleep with the fishes.  Before I do that, I have another question.  My boyfriend suggested putting him in the creek... he thought that maybe then I wouldn't feel so bad about offing him.  But I don't know if that would be worse than the euthanizing... Any advice?  Would putting him in the creek maybe give him a second chance (if he might get better)?
Thanks again,
Tracy

Answer
Hi Tracy;

Not a good idea at all. It is illegal to release non-native fishes in local waterways and it would be a slow painful death for him. He is not equipped to live in swift water and will be chewed up by other creatures even before he finally dies. It's nature's way to eliminate the weak, sick and dying. Also, if he carries any kind of disease or parasite you could be passing it on to animals that can't fight it off.

Take Care....
