about baby fish

well i recently realized that my fish was giving babies and te babies were hiding under the stones and are not to be seen much too what must i do and how do i know the gender of a fish

Hi Merlyn,
  You have a few choices.  You can try to catch all the babies and put them in a separate fish tank.  Or, you can let nature take its course and only the strongest babies (namely those that hide the best and swim the fastest) will survive.  The choice is up to you.  If you go the second route, you can put lots of rocks or plants and things in the tank to give the babies a better chance of surviving.
  In order to tell the gender, you need to know which kind of fish it is. In some species, the males and females look completely different.  For example, the male might be blue and the female yellow, but in other species, the two sexes might look exactly the same.
