Betta jumping out of water

Question
We have had our betta for 6 months and starting yesterday he began jumping out of his bowl.  He would swim a little wild and then jump out of his bowl and land back in his bowl.  What does this behavior represent?

Answer
Hello Cari-

Bettas usually jump because they're bored, or hungry, or if they see something interesting outside. Be sure to put a screen over the bowl, because he will most likely fall out one of these days. If you discover him on the floor, put him back in his bowl. Bettas can recover after almost an hour, as long as they are not dried up like a potato chip!
