Question
Hi Ron

2 questions > I have 2 (4yr) old oscar's in a 75 gallon

What type of fresh people food besides fish food are good for Oscar's?
(Veg, shrimp etc)I feed them Cichlid gold pellets,  jumbo krill shrimp and a frozen food mix of blood worms, veg, shrimp on  alternating days. Once a day.

I have always had a crystal clear tank its started to get cloudy 2 weeks ago. I do water changes every week. I have done 2 water changes it stays clear for awhile then clouds up.  I used Acurel F Friday it clears up and then gets cloudy.  I'm doing a water change today Sunday April 15th.  Only thing I did differently was remove the carbon in one filter(Cascade Canister) 2 weeks ago, the other filter(Aqua Clear)110 has one, and added Boswood cave.

Thanks again

Answer
Hi Fran,
The two are related.   The diet you are feeding is fine.  It's actually very gourmet for most fish.  I feed my fish cichlid flakes and cichlid sticks and that's it.

The trouble with non-fish food  things, like shrimp etc is that they rot rather quickly if the fish doesn't eat them.  So, you have to be very careful to remove them after a half hour or so if they aren't eaten.  If they start rotting, they put nitrogen into the water which bacteria love and multiply quickly -- the bacteria are what makes the water "cloudy".
