Questionmy little fish has white spots, he is floating at top of surface, gasping for air. I am in the process of treating the water for ick with coppersafe he has only had these spots at the most 3 days. I am so worried that he is going to die before i can get the water right. is there anything I can do to help him? he did eat yesterday just very slow. he is fighting but he does not look good please help - he is in a small outside pond with 6 other fish 150 gallons please let me know if there is anything I can do for him. how long does it take to cure ick.
AnswerHi Nicole,
Sadly with ick it is a race. Once you see the ick it is already well established. You got the medicine in quite quickly and it takes about 7 days or so for the ick to clear. During that time, the fish will become progressively weaker so we can only hope that he can hold out for a few more days before the ick can be destroyed.
