Question
QUESTION: Hi! my names Cam and i recently received a female betta from a friend, after a few weeks the little guy (JB) grew on me so i bought another female betta because the clerk at the store said they would "probably" get along in the same bowl. long story short, they didn't so not i have 2 bettas in 2 different bowls beside each other. the new betta (flash) didn't try to fight the larger fish (JB), but JB seemed to have a huge problem with flash's presence. i don't really care that they are in separate bowls, but it would be nice to have them in the same bowl, any tips on how to make them get along?

also, i feel bad giving my fish only those crappy little pellets all the time, are there any bugs or plants or any other household food i could give them (ants, refrigerated or frozen veggies, hot dog chunks, etc....)

thanks a lot!!

Cam

ANSWER: Ok here is a solution get 1 ten-gallon tank and a divider put one fish on each side of the divider. With one fish on each side of the divider they will not fight and you can feed the smaller one more then the big one and when they get about just the same size take the divder out and rearrange everything in the tank so they can reclaim their territory to avoid aggresion, and watch for tail nipping, constant chasing, and any other signs that may be aggresion and if their is after a few days put the divider back in so they won't end up killing each other and you can retry the process to see if they can live together without the divider.

To feed my betta's i give them frozen bloodworms and "betta buffet" by Omega One. With this diet my bettas have great color and are healthy. If their are any more questions please ask.

QUESTION: thats awesome, but i was thinking something more along the lines of a live meal like fruit flies or ants, just something i could run outside and collect rather than have to go buy, if not, its fine but i thought a simple little treat like that would be alright, if an ant would harm my fish i wont feed them to it, so please tell me otherwise

Answer
Well when you gather things from outside like ants they could be covered in ant poison and such so i wouldn't do that. You could get a little 2 gallon tank and fill it with really small feeder guppies and maybe one per day or week it is all your choice just don't over feed. I don't know about fruit flies hurting your fish, but i just would think all the things it could have been in and other things because it could cause a fish loss. For other live things i would get really small crickets from your petstore if your fish is big enough and maybe your betta will eat them it is all your choice.
