Question
I have 2 oscars in a 55 gallon with underground filtration and 2 70 gallon powerheads that push 350 an hour w/air, and an 110 gallon filter, so it stays relativley clean. It started out looking like a hair stuck to ones gill with little bubbles on it. after doing some research, i seen some pictures of "cotton like fungus, and this is not what it looks like. Have treated with ick med, pimafix, andjust started maracyn treatment, but not quite sure im doing the right thing...any knowlege you could share would be extremely appriciated. Thanks

Answer
Shane,                                                       It sounds like you have a parasite. Fluke or flatworms gather around the gills. You need to fix this or it will suffocate them. Go and get coppersafe it is relatively cheap and stays in your system for 30 days. 1 tsp per 4 gallons. You do not have to take your carbon out if it is more than 4 days old. This should do the trick. It happens sometimes when you are feeding fish to them. You should be ok . Good Luck, Tina
