Question
i have one (looks young) pregnant guppy or minnow (can't tell =[) in a 5 gallon aquarium she has a really large gravid spot and she looks pretty big. the problem is that she won't have her little babies! she has been like that for about a month. please can you help me? (i have a teacher expecting some.:))

Answer
Hi Nick

I'm assuming there are males in the tank. Just be patient. Gestation period for Guppies is about 4 weeks. She can have between 1 and 25 babies and up to 50 if she's given birth before. She can also give birth for up to 6 months after one mating. Make sure there are plenty of hiding places for the babies to hide, floating plants work best. Make sure she isn't stressed, Guppies will abort there births if they are stressed.

Hope this helps, good luck!

Richard
