Question
i hear that the green spotted puffer fish need salt! what kind of salt and how much should i add

Answer
Crista,                                                      There are a couple of different green spotted puffs. They are in the least brakish. They very seldom do well in fresh water for a long period of time. If they are all you have make your water brakish add a couple of mono sabaes and maybe a scat. Brakish is.1.002 on the specific gravity meter. Though they can go stronger. So add 5 tspns of sea salt per gallon dissolved completely a little at a time. Dissolve in a separate container.Your scats are also called severens. Go with natural color rocks. So go get a specific gravity meter in your salt section of your pet shop and go to town they are great and your monos are beautiful and they are alot cheaper than true salt fish even though they are. These fish are born in estuaries and marshes. The salt levels rise and fall. So I think you will be fine and keep them longer going brakish. Good Luck, Tina
