Question
hi, i have a 10 gallon fresh water fish tank right now. It has tetras(glow-light and neon)bottoms feeders and an algae eater. I was wondering if I could put a goldfish or two in with the other fish. (i'm worried about temperature and how they'll get along) the temperature is just normal for tetras. If I did get a goldfish, would I be able to put both fish foods in, or should I just use the normal one, and not the goldfish. would this bad for them? it is a normal mix, though i'm not sure of the name(no label on it now)thank-you!!*-*

Answer
Hello Natalie,
I would stick to just the fish you have currently. Your "algae eaters" and "bottom feeders" (this can inlude hundreds of species, so you should research your specific kinds) are going to grow quite large, depending on the species. They start out small at the pet stores, but the common Pleco (algae eater) grows to over two feet long, and needs at least a 55 gallon tank.
Goldfish are from a very different part of the world than your tetras, and also require much cooler water.
Not to mention the fact that and species of goldfish will outgrow your ten gallon as well.
