Question
I have four tiger barbs. All healthy and fine. Water levels are correct. Suddenly tonight as we are watching them feed, one starts swimming nose down, tail up all over the 55 gallon tank. Going I'm for 15 mins now. Same food, same everything for 3 months. Why does the one swim like its lost its equilibrium suddenly?

Answer
David,
Swim bladder disease will do that, but it is easily fixed. Remove that fish from the main tank and put it in your hospital tank. Fast that fish for 2 days, and on the third day, feed it a cooked shelled pea cut into bite size pieces, and then fast again for 2 days. Once it starts swimming the right way, you can put it back into the main tank. To help prevent swim bladder disease, only feed what the fish can eat in 2 minutes, and promptly remove any uneaten food.
