convict with rams

Hi there,

I currently have one male german blue ram in a 20 gallon tank, along with a few ruby barbs. I was wondering if it would be possible to place one or even a pair of convict cichlids in the tank with them. I hear convicts can be aggresive, so I would only do this if I knew it was safe for my beloved ram.  Any info would be greatly appreciated!

Hi Melissa,
 It would not likely be safe for either the ram or the ruby barbs, i.e., I wouldn't do it.  Convicts are wonderful fish, in fact, they are one of my alltime favorites, but a 20 gallon tank is too small to ask them to share with anybody else.
