Question
can i put my algae eater and beta together in my 1 gallon tank the tank already has some plants in there and i do not want to get crowded but i want my algae eater to eat the algae

Answer
Hello,
No you cannot.  Algae eaters don't eat only algae, they need food also, and a one gallon tank is not big enough for an algae eater.  It is actually too small for a betta also.  A betta needs at least 5 gallons to be happy.  I'm sorry, but this would be really over crowding.  Another reason is that you must keep your betta in very clean water, free of algae.  Water changes must be made twice a week in a one gallon tank.  One gallon tanks with plants leave little room for the betta to swim.  In their habitat, bettas may live in shallow waters, but they have lots of room to swim.  Bettas should be in warm temperature water, algae eaters too.  They are tropical fish, and need 78 degree temperature to survive and be happy.  In cool waters, they eventually get sick, and their lives are cut short.
Hope this helps you understand a little more.
