fish tank beginner

Hi

I am considering buying a fish tank and would like some advice please , I hear so many different points from people I am completely confused

Minimum tank size
What types of fish are best for beginners ?
How often are tanks to be emptied & cleaned ?
any other help & advice you think i need as a beginner

Hello Alison.  You are making a fantastic decision by researching your "project" BEFORE you start. So many people just hop in to it blind and then cannot figure out "why" their fish keep dying.  Rather then me sit here and type all of this out, I am going to give you some great links to go check out that are full of information for beginners.  As far as beginner fish, most pet stores have their tanks labeled as to "beginner" "intermediate" and "advanced".  I started out with guppies, platys and mollies personally.  They are fun.  But you should research all your options first.  Here are the links:
