Convict fish

Question
Hi, I have a female convict fish that won't eat. I have tried giving it Cichlid Gold
and they are ignored. Today I got some guppies, and rather than eating them,
my convict fish hides in the corner. I think there might be something wrong with
her, since she seems afraid of everything. What should I do?

Answer
Hi Alex,
I don't understand why you would get her guppies to eat????   Convicts don't normally eat guppies. That is not to say that a convict won't eat guppies, but that is an astonishingly expensive food for a convict.  Feed her flake food.  If you want to give her something special, go with frozen blood worms or frozen brine shrimp.

The most common reason why a convict won't eat is because the water is not clean.  You need to be changing 25% of the water once a week, every week.  Have you been doing that?
