Question
I just got a Beta fish and I bought him the pellet food. He will put them in his mouth then spit them back out. He does this several times before he actualy eats the food. I have had A few Betas in the past and none of them have done this is it normal? Should I buy different food?

Answer
Yes, I hear this quite often. Just crush up the pellets before feeding. The easiest way to do this is place a few into a ziploc bag, then mash them with a rolling pin (or something else very hard). Also, be sure you are not overfeeding him. He may be reluctant if he is already full, but fish can and will eat themselves to death.
