female fantail goldfish

how do you know when a female fantail goldfish is dieing?she has a shredded tail,keeps floating back to the filter and wont get away from it barley swimming not eating...is she dieing??

Poor thing. It doesn't sound good I'm afraid. Usually by the time a fish becomes that lethargic and unresponsive, there isn't anything you can do for them.

If you could share some more information with me about your tank, maintenance schedule, and the fish, I might be able to help avoid more problems in the future. I need to know how long you've had the tank, how long you've had the fish, how big the tank is, how often you change water, how often you clean the filter, etc.
